Thanks for visiting!

Hello

Thanks for visiting. I spent the first few decades of my life in South Africa, where I had many adventures. Brilliant and poisonous green mambas, clever and slippery clawless otters and grinning sub-adult hyenas were just some of the wondrous creatures I was lucky enough to encounter.

I now live in New Zealand, where creatures of the sky and sea are more likely to visit. A fat kōtare (sacred kingfisher) pops in from time to time and it’s quite common to have orcas visit the local beach to eat stingrays.

I love writing, reading, learning and travelling. I have degrees in journalism and anthropology and have edited magazines, hosted podcasts and radio shows. I’ve even interviewed someone from the back of a camel. My other job is as an anthropologist at a university, where I do research.
